Re: 2019 General Tennis News
And to continue with Andy, as there is not much else going on right now...
How nice of Stan and Donna to do this! And it looks like Andy is already up and about.
Stan's Care Bear Lifts Andy's Spirits
Andy Murray has a new fluffy friend to comfort him at the hospital, and it's just about as big as the 6'3” Scot. Murray received a “get well soon” teddy bear from Stan Wawrinka and his girlfriend, WTA player Donna Vekic.
“Big thanks to @stanwawrinka85 and @donnavekic for the get well soon teddy bear,” Murray wrote on Instagram on Thursday. “It's absolutely huge. My kids will be fighting over this when I get home! #stantheman”.

Thank you for all the news here - the German forum is a bit "sleepy" now, so I am happy to read news and funny things here, while Roger is doing ... I don't know what, training? Having fun with familiy and kids? Holidays?
Hope I am welcome here, my english is a bit rusty...

You are doing very well, Chrigi! Nice to see you here.
And, yes, it's pretty slow everywhere. That's why I am looking forward to Dubai, but there is still a way to go. 'Maybe' we can get some excitement with the Davis Cup this weekend, but I can't get too excited about it personally.

Thank you for the warm welcome, dear Cromar
I was watching a bit of our Swiss ladies this week (I like Golubic a lot) and will have a look at the Daviscup today with our Swiss "underdogs" against Russia

Re: 2019 General Tennis News
Caught a glimpse of Felix A-A at a French tournament where he double faulted in the third set to give his opponent (Chilean player) a chance to serve for the match. Which he did and won. FAA reminds me a bit of the Aussie talent Thanassi Kokkinakis who suffered quite a few injuries when he first turned pro. Long layoffs ensued. Made it difficult for TK to find his momentum and confidence and consistency going forward. Do hope the same fate doesn't meet FAA ....

He is Canadian, right, Auger Aliassame? It is always worrisome when young players get injured early and easily. The thing about injury, unless it is slight or muscle/tiredness related is that once injured it is that same spot that gets reinjured again, because it is guarded, and hence more stiff.
I hope he heals easily and well. And other young players with injuries so their careers can unfold.

Everybody welcomes you! I sneaked into a German and a French thread once or twice because I spotted some article and people were very nice, even though I left a remark in English.Chrigi wrote:Thank you for all the news here - the German forum is a bit "sleepy" now, so I am happy to read news and funny things here, while Roger is doing ... Re: 2019 General Tennis News
I can't seem to find a thread for Roger's first match, which I thought would be today. I looked at the schedule, and again I didn't see him there!
Anyone? When is Roger playing?

Re: 2019 General Tennis News
Roger is playing tomorrow, but the schedule is not out yet. I guess he will play at night, but I not sure. Today, it's the top half of the draw playing, bottom half tomorrow.
Sherl will probably open the match thread once she gets the time. It will be in the ATP Tournament (with RF) section.

J.M. Del Potro Injury
Can't believe Del Potro may have to undergo another surgery! How unlucky can you get!
He is still on the entry list for the Miami Open, but according to this report, his participation is in doubt.
Edit - Mar 18: Del Potro did withdraw from the Miami Open.
Report: Juan Martin del Potro considering knee surgery
According to various experts quoted by La Nacion, the surgery would sideline him for four to six months.

Juan Martin del Potro is deciding whether to withdraw from next week's Miami Open and have knee surgery, indicates Argentine newspaper La Nacion.
The 30-year-old fractured his kneecap last October at Shanghai and only returned a few weeks ago at Delray Beach, where he experienced more pain. He then withdrew from this week's BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, but said he was aiming to play next week in Miami.
According to the newspaper, del Potro has consulted with several specialists since his comeback, and has been undergoing PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy on the knee. But limited success has led him to consider the possibility of surgery, which, according to various experts quoted by La Nacion, would sideline him for four to six months.
Del Potro has already had several extended layoffs in his career, including for right wrist surgery in 2010, and for three left wrist procedures in the following years. In 2018, he won his first Masters title at Indian Wells, reached the final of the US Open and earned a career-high ranking of No. 3—before getting injured again.
During Delray Beach, del Potro acknowledged he was not "100 percent," but returned because he "did not want to be at home watching tournaments on TV" again.

^^^ It is really sad how unlucky Del Potro has been on the injury-front.

An awful series of injuries. For all his size, he may have delicate joints and maybe prone to injuries, or some injuries hamper and may lead to others. I sympathise with him. He wants to play, and instead he goes through these procedures. I wish a strong recovery for him.
