24 July - 09 August
It's official!... Roger confirmed today that he plans to participate in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The Olympic Tennis Event will take place from Saturday 25 July to Sunday 2 August, nine days that will culminate in Olympic medals for players in men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

This would be my 5th Olympic Games, I hope I will be healthy unlike Rio! Can’t wait Tokyo

Re: RF Schedule 2020-2022
Goodness, thank you for this news! My laptop again--crash, stomp and stomp--did not work for about three days, despite my best attempts, which at one point consisted on my palms pounding on the frozen keyboard to no effect. This morning I thought I would try...and I don't know how, but I could get on the browser. Meantime I only saw on Canadian cable news--very inadquate in scope--that Roger Federer said he will need a wildcard entry to the 2020 Olympics, which he wants to play.
I could not imagine what that meant: did it suggest that he'd do something, using that dirty word starting with R, or play a very limited schedule? I was quote concerned--did not Roger consider what I would do in that case?
Thank you for this answer, and I feel as though a dark cloud had lifted from me, one that shrouded me. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Only God's intervention saved my laptop from being smashed to the floor! Even if it was probably something I did or did not do that was at fault.

Re: RF Schedule 2020-2022
This is great news! Do you think he plays single or double mixed or double double gentlemen? If he’s playing the mixed doubles, I’d like him to do it with Belinda.

Roger also confirmed he is playing the French Open in 2020 too!

How can we carry our hearts with this man surprising us all the way long?
Thank you, Roger!

Yes!
During his interview with Macfarlane on CNN World Sport this morning, Roger pretty much confirmed his entire summer schedule:
Roger Federer said:
I will play the French Open, but not much else before that, because again I need some time away from it. I need some time with the family, we need a vacation, we need a break, especially if I'm playing the Olympics and all that.
So I'll probably play the French, Halle, Wimbledon, the Olympics, and then maybe Cincinnati, and the US Open."
Edit: Here is the video of the interview with Macfarlane when Roger announced he would play the French Open.
So, there you have it, his 2020 mid-season schedule pretty much nailed down!
Feel sorry for our Canadian friends, again no Roger in next year! But with the Olympics, that was to be 'more' than expected.

Re: RF Schedule 2020-2022
This is great news!
I think but afterwards, I can be wrong that he will play ATP Cup, AO, dubai, IW, Madrid, RG, Halle, Wim, JO, Cinci, US, LC, Shanghai, Basel, Nitto.

Re: RF Schedule 2020-2022
It's a good guess, Marly, but maybe we should wait a bit before putting the Nitto ATP Finals on his list! Lots of competition coming up out there!
And Madrid may not be on his schedule in light of what he said in his latest interview with CNN posted above. He wants to have some vacations before the FO... Check it out!

Re: RF Schedule 2020-2022
Family is so important and Roger and Mirka know it and respect it. Well, with their personalities, it just comes naturally. So I am still waiting for the next round of "family planning" since Roger said that they were not done with it.
And indeed, there is no better news than to know Roger has tennis plans, and good ones. He is mindful, besides his own goals, of his fans, too, I believe.

Re: RF Schedule 2020-2022
To answer Cromar, I had put Madrid for a short preparation for RG. Afterwards, for the Nitto, this is my wish.
Re: RF Schedule 2020-2022
Dubai and Indian Wells confirmed - Miami ?
In a recent interview with Rene Stauffer (@staffsky), Roger confirmed that he will play Dubai and IW in 2020, and that ideally he would also like to defend his Miami title, but adds that he still needs to discuss it with his team.
