Hopman Cup 2019

HAIL THE SWISS TEAM CAN U BELIEVE IT .. TEAM FEDECIC WON how FAANTAASTISCH (I am trying my pathetic Swiss German:)) The doubles are tricky and the chance was 50/50 but to win, heck I love it. I loved to see Roger so joyous so happy and Belinda flying high with happiness, what a delightful wonderful partner for Roger she has been. I hope she climbs back in the ranking this year and gets back to where she wants to be. And Yes Team Swiss was happy and proud, Mirka gave her hubby Champion a hug and a kiss. Roger you made millions and millions of fans happy today. Oh My... This Tournament had so much fun, excitement and thrills, the Australian Open is going to be dull in comparison, but I trust Roger to stir up the atmosphere and create excitement.

This doubles match was a super thriller. Happy day in Federland, my breakfast is going to be grand, I'll be grinning in my coffee and singing between bites

Cheers to everyone here, when I first logged on, there was only Cromar, now I see so many here, to all have a lovely day/night and my hopes are on our valued tech savvy Dear Cromar, Norinichi and Marly to bring us clips of the trophy celebrations as my livestream stopped heartlessly after the match. Love to all.

Cromar: Thanks for the Dance of the Swan, beautiful, and the homepage image is a beauty also. I didn't start my breakfast yet, I was searching the tube for the trophy presentation, I couldn't find anything, but I found and watched the Mighty Fed highlights of his match against Zverev which was out of this world. Off I go now for real Genie and Pia, my parrots are complaining.

Congrats Roger!! I would be grateful for any links to extended highlights, the trophy ceremony etc. On the Hopman Cup site they have the presser but not the ceremony.

Interesting presser by Roger, as it not only covers the Hopman Cup, but also includes comments about his performance post-Wimbledon last year and questions about the upcoming AO.

I watched the Trophy ceremony on the Hopman Cup Youtube channel. Belinda was an absolute riot- Roger talks too much!! I could see Sascha enjoying that comment- I think he was on the receiving end during the Laver Cup. I think they regard Roger like a beloved elder brother or even an uncle!

Here it is!

Roger looked sharp in his singles match against Zverev.  It's the only Hopman Cup match I've seen.  I liked him exploiting the net.  This will serve him well to end points, sets and matches quickly at the AO. Zverev has all of Goran's moodiness and none of his charm or humor.  Yeah he's steady, like Djokovic, but he's not thrilling with out-of-this world surprises that keeps one on the edge of their seat. Kind of like he's AI programmed.  Dullsville and the Mr. T jewelry look doesn't help.

Belinda Bencic in photos looks like she's dropped some weight since last I saw her.  She got too heavy last year, not good for her joints or movement.  Hope she makes something of herself this year.

The comms (i.e., Blake, Chanda Rubin) will destroy tennis fandom.  Man they are dull making the same old remarks we've heard for years on end.  Last year we had the good fortune to hear Woodbridge/Fitzy call matches when tennis channel imported their work.  Anyone calling tennis these days should listen to those two to learn how to make the sport more exciting for fans.  Carrillo and Courier still the best by far from the American contingent for both their observations and Mary's way of always finding the humor and joy.

Congrats to Switzerland, it was great fun to watch the whole tournament, hope this is not the last or one of the last years of this unique event. Best of luck to Roger in AO, might this be the best preparation for him possible.

As for Zverev, he better give more room to his partner next time.
