Here are the few top players participating in the Qualies:

And the ... because I am partial! Good luck to them! Facing a strong Russian team.

I would like Switzerland to qualify for the finals of November, but must recognize the Russian team is well above the Swiss! After, we can believe, you never know a match.
Re: Davis Cup 2019-2020
Apparently there is a 15 year old playing for the Swiss.
For Canada it was our youngsters- Denis Shapovalov (19) and Felix Auger-Aliassime (18) with one of my fav players Frank Dancevic as Captain. The young men played all the matches- Denis won his singles, they lost the doubles in a 3 setter and then Felix had to win the 5th and he did. Very calm and impressive. CONGRATS CANADA!
Apparently Felix had an ablation procedure for Heart arrhythmia. I was really happy to hear that (at the USO 2018 - he couldn't continue his match against Denis because of it).

Glad for the young man that the procedure was successful!

Re: Davis Cup 2019-2020
I'm really enjoying Canada's Davis Cup journey. Vasek has been incredible and Denis has played a wonderful supporting role -though it was his victory against Khachanov today that helped Canada get to the finals. Apparently, one reason for his improvement is that Youzny has been telling him to work hard on his foot work- especially coming forward.
I'm very pleased that GB and Spain are still at it in their doubles. Should help the Canadian cause! Not sure if Vasek will have enough in the tank to play singles and doubles tomorrow.

An extraordinary journey for these two Canadians!
They will face Nadal and the Spanish squad in the Final. Ain't going to be easy!
Nadal/Lopez... When you win the decider doubles that get you into the Final!

Bautista Agut wins against FAA! Spain-Canada 1-0
Nadal leads 1 set to 0 against Shapovalov!

Re: Davis Cup 2019-2020
And Nadal does win the second set though Shapovalov fought off 2 MPs. Great effort from him in the second set.
So, yes, Spain wins the DC.

Re: Davis Cup 2019-2020
had to win that first match to have a chance. Using Felix was a gamble, as he had not played for a while. I guess they wanted to keep Pospisil fresh for the doubles, but then... they never got to play!
Too bad, but had a spectacular run and should be proud of it.

Re: Davis Cup 2019-2020
A friend of mine said that they should have got Denis to play the first match. He had a very good chance of beating RBA. Then the second with Felix and Nadal wouldn't have mattered.

Not a possibility!!
In this revamped format the tie consists of
First match is always #2 vs #2 ie Felix vs RBA
Second match is always #1 vs #1 ie Denis vs Nadal
Third match is always doubles
At the time of the DC, Denis was ranked higher than Felix.
The only option available would have been to use Vashy instead of Felix as they had done in prior ties. But captain's choice was to rest Vashy in case doubles was necessary - ie Felix beat RBA. Denis was most likely going to lose against Nadal. Vashy was wiped at this point.

Re: Davis Cup 2019-2020
The Davis Cup is pretty much under the radar these days, but just in case anyone is interested, the First Round Qualifiers and World Group Play-offs will be played next week...
A few top players will be part of the 24 teams that will compete for a berth in the DC Finals in Madrid in November, as well as the other World Group teams.
And after the cancellation of a Challenger final in Italy last week, the Coronavirus outbreak is impacting the Davis Cup now.
- Romania has been given a walkover over China in their World Group I Play-off, since China was forced to withdraw as their team cannot travel to Romania due to the current Coronavirus travel restrictions.
- The Qualifier tie between Japan and Ecuador in Miki, Japan on 6-7 March - which is to see the return to the court of Key Nishikori - will be played behind closed doors without spectators.
The ITF stated that this decision was been taken in consultation with the JTA following advice from Japan Sports Agency and the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in response to the current Coronavirus outbreak. All spectators who have already purchased tickets will be refunded.

ITF Press Release, February 26, 2020
The ITF has announced the official team nominations for the 70 nations competing in the Davis Cup by Rakuten Qualifiers and the Davis Cup World Group I and World Group II Play-offs.
More than 320 players are set to don their national colours for the biggest home-and-away weekend in Davis Cup history. Taking place on 6-7 March 2020, the weekend will see 70 nations competing over 35 ties spread across six continents.
Having not competed since last year’s US Open, Kei Nishikori makes a welcome return following elbow surgery for his first Davis Cup tie since 2016. Elsewhere, Marin Cilic returns to Davis Cup for the first time since leading Croatia to the 2018 title. Number 1 seeds Croatia face an experienced India team which includes 8-time men’s doubles Grand Slam winner Leader Paes, who is set to appear in his 58th Davis Cup tie.
They will be joined by the likes of Fabio Fognini, Cristian Garin, Nick Kyrgios, and Guido Pella in leading their nations’ pursuit of a place in the Davis Cup Finals in November.
World No. 38 Casper Ruud is set to lead Norway in their World Group I Play-off tie against Barbados, while Nikoloz Basilashvili (Georgia) and Stefanos Tsitsipas (Greece) will be hoping to inspire their teams to victory and a chance of promotion to World Group II.
The 24 nations competing in the Davis Cup by Rakuten Qualifiers are bidding for a place in the Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals 2020 in Madrid on 23-28 November. They will join the 2019 champions Spain, runners-up Canada and semi-finalists Great Britain and Russia, as well as the two wild card nations France and Serbia.
The 2020 Davis Cup World Group I and World Group II Play-offs are the first ties in the new extended global format of the competition. Groups I and II are now being played on a worldwide basis, reflecting the truly international nature of Davis Cup, with a clear promotion and relegation structure.
In September, the losing nations from the Davis Cup Qualifiers will face the winning nations from the World Group I Play-offs in World Group I; while the losing nations from the World Group I Play-offs will face the winning nations from the World Group II Play-offs in World Group II.
The losing nations from the World Group II Play-offs will go on to contest their respective regional Group III events later in 2020.
Romania has already been given a walkover over China, P.R. in their World Group I Play-off, as China P.R. was forced to withdraw from the tie following the increased travel restrictions due to the current Coronavirus outbreak.
Each tie will consist of four singles rubbers and one doubles rubber with all matches played over the best of three tiebreak sets. Two singles rubbers will be played on Friday 6 March, with the doubles followed by the two reverse singles rubbers on Saturday 7 March. The draws will take place on Thursday 5 March.
