Normal Antwerp and Moscow 2021 Winners

Post by Cromar Mon Oct 25, 2021 12:18 pm

ANTWERP

Jannik Sinner defeated second seed Diego Schwartzman 6-2, 6-2 on Sunday to win the European Open, marking his fifth ATP Tour title. The 20-year-old is the youngest player to claim five tour-level trophies since 19-year-old Novak Djokovic triumphed in Estoril in 2007.

“I felt great on court. I moved well. Today I also served better, I think," Sinner said. "I felt great, but in tennis every day is different. You have to be careful. I think I played well the whole tournament, to be honest, from the first point to the last point."

Sinner moved to No. 11 on the ATP Rankings released today (he started the year as No 37!) and is a spot away from qualifying for the ATP Finals in Turin.

Nice to see Nico in winning form again.

MOSCOW

Aslan Karatsev defeated Marin Cilic in straight sets to win the Kremlin Cup.

The 28-year-old Russian created a sensation by reaching the semifinals of the Australian Open as a qualifier, then winning Dubai and reaching the final of Belgrade. Now, he's capped his breakthrough season with a title run at his home event in Moscow. He started the year as No 112 and has now moved into the top 20! (No. 19 on the ATP rankings released today). Oh My!

Djokovic defeats Medvedev to win the Paris Masters. Too bad. Daniil got off to a good start.

So tired of the Djokovic gamesmanship. He slipped a couple of times...propels himself to the court, racket goes flying, etc. I'm convinced it's all calculated. From the incessant ball bouncing to the ridiculous screaming to the extra grunting when he gets to a ball that looked like a winner. So sick of this guy.

Thank Goodness I didn't watch that or any matches in that tourney. BUT  I watched a part of his interview online. It seems like Mr. Medvedev has become a joker advocate and promoter. He sounded like he enjoyed losing to him.. UGH..

Zverev beats Djokovic in the semi and then goes on to defeat Medvedev to win his second tour finals event.

Still only one man with 6 ATP tour finals titles...
