Re: US OPEN 2023
So happy for Coco. Good for her. Strong player with good ethics, lovely young athlete. I was hoping Shelton would reach a fairytale ending for American Tennis, but he couldn't survive the joker. I haven't seen either match, I will look up Coco's trophy ceremony.
I just watched the trophy ceremony, haven't seen the highlights yet but I clapped and cried, heartbroken for the one who lost and so proud of the one who won. So impressed by Sabalenka's love of the sport and by the eloquence and the strong character of the 19 year old Coco. How she thanked Billy Jean King for her fight for equal pay for men and women players. And how she kicked back at those who put her down and posted negative remarks, in her words "those who are putting water on my fire are really adding gas to it and it is now burning brightly ....
