Re: RF Schedule 2019
Do you think he's going to make a clay court tournament before Roland?
I think, after I can be wrong, but I have the impression that he plays on clay so as not to miss too many matches, rythm for 10 weeks before the grass season. But that's just my opinion!

Re: RF Schedule 2019
Yes, Marly, as steerpike mentioned, Roger plans to play either Madrid or Rome before RG, but not Monte-Carlo, as it's too early.

Roger's Schedule for 2019
This is a tentative schedule based on Roger's past practice and information he provided during recent interviews.
Tournaments with a have not been confirmed, either way: those colored are probable, the ones 'greyed out' are less likely.

According to Le Matin it will be the only clay tournament he will play before RG.

"Finally, it is in the Spanish capital that the Maestro will perform, from May 3rd to May 12th. The news have been confirmed by tournament director Feliciano Lopez and the ATP. According to our sources, it will be his only tournament on clay before Roland Garros."

^^^ I figured he would play Madrid. He obviously can still take a WC into Rome if he were to lose early in Madrid and want more clay match practice.

Re: RF Schedule 2019
A good picture for the tournament! Does Nadal count Madrid as his favourite Spanish tournament? Or is it Barcelona. The latter, I think.
Dear Roger: You are so great on clay! Just play with that knowledge. Whatever you do, we, on this website, are always happy to see you play, as are an awful lot of people in the world!

Re: RF Schedule 2019
Monte Carlo, although beautiful in location, has often annoyed me with its court, on which, due to the color of the clay--or my television--the ball can be hard to see. Overall, it is not sharp and clear for the eye. So on to Spain!Marly 99-20 wrote:the same!

I don't think Nadal likes Madrid too much. Isn't that the one at a higher altitude?
