Re: 2017 Tournament Interviews
That was such an admission from Rog, his fear of shanking his bh all those years. Just that one thing answers all our questions during 2014/15 about why did he seem nervous, not confident enough in those big SF/Finals, why didn't he recognise he was still the best etc etc.
Where would he have been now had he been willing to change his racquet earlier. I still remember an interview, has to have been post-2012, and his reply was quite tetchy
"That racquet has won me 17 Grand Slams, why would I want to change it?" Sick of hearing it for sure.
Must have been after his early loss in Wimby13 as I could see no other tourneys at that time. And he did change it then. One can only imagine how it would have made a difference to 2014/2015 Wimby results - not to mention all the rest if he'd got the feel of it sooner. But spilt milk and all that - we can only change when we are ready or Circumstance dictates.
And as he says, it makes it all the sweeter now. Just pray it wasn't too late and his body holds up for a good couple of years so he can reclaim his true place.
And address some of those H2Hs

Re: 2017 Tournament Interviews
cromar, I am not a subscriber, and even live tennis at TC I cannot see, due to restricted areas. But I see the interview! Very strange...
Thanks for all the others!
avasbar, I pray for the same. But I also think that, playing like this he allows himself to play many more years. He goes for it, saves energy... A beauty! Go, Roger!

Re: 2017 Tournament Interviews
I am not Tennis Channel subscriber but i can see the the interview. (And part of this interview is available at TC facebook page, i placed the link at the previous page of this thread.)
About the racket change - as far as i remember Roger said many times that he had tested a lot of rackets through the years before he decided to switch. And still it took 2+ years practically to adjust to new racket. But now it is magic to watch!

I found out that it's not an issue of location or subscriber, but a problem with my browser (IE 11) and JW videos. I tested it with Chrome and I can see the interview just fine!... Nice one, by the way!
This technology drive me nuts sometimes!

Re: 2017 Tournament Interviews
Stan Wawrinka jokingly referred to Roger Federer as an ‘asshole’ in his post-match speech.
Roger Federer has a reputation as one of the nicest pro athletes among his fellow tennis players and fans.
When Stan Wawrinka got emotional in his post-match comments to the crowd after losing the BNP Paribas Open final, Federer sat courtside laughing.
“I would like to congratulate Roger,” Wawrinka said, glancing at his countryman and friend. “He’s laughing. He’s an asshole, but it’s OK.”
Wawrinka wiped his eyes and apologised to the crowd, explaining he was tired after the desert tournament ended Sunday.
Federer said he was only trying to cheer up Wawrinka.
“I was trying, when he looked at me, not to give him the sad face,” he said. “I was looking at him going, ‘You’ll be fine,’ and gave him a laugh, say, maybe gets his mind off it. I guess I achieved that.”
Asked later if it was the first time in his life that he had been called the expletive, Federer said he’d heard it “many, many times before” in a joking way.

“That’s why I take it as a compliment,” he said, smiling.
“There’s not always cameras around, so I get called that sometimes. Quite often, actually. On the court is the first time, but it felt good.”
