That would be preferable. But at least Europe won't lose the Laver Cup should Roger lose. It would only be tied. But World team would no doubt have all the momentum going into the final doubles set.

I don't know. They are the only Europe doubles team that won their match. The World Team would no doubt go with Sock and Isner again.
