Re: Awards, Records & Stats
Sunday 15 December 2019
Roger was once again on the list of nominees for Switzerland's Sportman of the Year.
The award took place last night and Roger came in second, behind the King of wrestling Christian Stucki (Lutte suisse).
In a video from Dubai, Roger thanked all the supporters, fans and journalists who voted for him!
Roger has won this award already (between 2003-2017), making him the most decorated athlete.
At the Swiss Indoors in Basel last October, Roger met Christian Stucki and they had a little exchange of their 'trade tools'... a tennis racket for a pair of wrestling culottes (shorts)!

Re: Awards, Records & Stats
It sucks that players are sullying the name of Stefan Edberg by voting for Nadal ahead of Roger. I find it stunning that this year, Roger didn't get that award. He was so generous in his heartbreaking losses and injuries. Nadal made excuses almost all the time in his losses. I guess the Roger generation of players has all retired and the youngsters can't tell sportsmanship from gamesmanship.

These awards have become meaningless ... Just PR operations from the ATP, problably decided upon in advance according to who they want to promote. Junk.

Voted on by the players, not the ATP, and by the fans in the case of the award Roger got. Something to rejoice about, at least!
