Of course, if Nadal has one, the others would too, no?

Thanks. Nice picture. My friend said it was a picture saying that the trophy had just arrived.
^^ I would assume so but he said it had just arrived. Nice picture. Thank you, going in my collection.

Maybe your friend was referring to this... looks like he got the (real) Laver Cup on loan for display at the Academy this summer, probably to give some visibility to the tournament.

Just announced today... The first selections for Chicago:
Does this means that Nadal may not be joining the group this year??...
Novak Djokovic, one of the most prolific champions in world tennis, will join Roger Federer to spearhead Team Europe’s defense of the Laver Cup in Chicago in September.

I love the whole concept of ‘rivals becoming teammates’ and can’t wait to join Roger Federer in Team Europe

I was wondering the same thing. But then, as you posted... the Laver Cup trophy is on display at his place. So, who knows? Neither Djoker nor Delpo played last year so it's kind of nice that they are playing this year. I thought Nadal had committed to Chicago, but we'll see.

^^
I think I heard somewhere that Nadal wouldn't be going. Will be available for the Davis Cup. Thinking of the 2020 Olympics I guess!

Yes, Nadal seems to be committed to playing the Davis Cup SF, which is the week before the Laver Cup, so his participation in Chicago is very iffy, if not totally out of the question according to this article (and Nadal's own English! )
Rafael Nadal speaks out on whether he’ll join Roger Federer & Novak Djokovic at the Laver Cup
George Bellshaw - Metro.co.uk
Saturday 30 Jun 2018
Rafael Nadal refused to commit to playing at the Laver Cup this year but hinted his involvement in the Davis Cup is likely to see him miss out.
The exhibition event is the brainchild of Nadal’s great rival Roger Federer and the pair competed at the Ryder Cup-style event for Team Europe in 2017 – even playing doubles together.
Novak Djokovic has already been confirmed as a pick by Team Europe captain Bjorn Borg for the away fixture in Chicago, with the Serb not involved last time around.
However, Nadal admitted that Spain’s Davis Cup semi-final against France would likely take precedence – although he would not officially rule himself out of the September event.
‘Difficult for me to say,’ the Spaniard said ahead of Wimbledon. ‘Being honest, I loved the competition. I had a lot of fun. Is a great event. I really enjoyed and played with a lot of passion.
But this year I have the semi-finals of Davis Cup the week before. Difficult for me to say now if I am or I am not. I am just focused and try to do my thing. Remain months, then I will see. Still a long way for me to think about it.
‘I don’t know how the things going to go in terms of matches, in terms of result. I have an important tie in the semifinals in France the week before.
‘Of course, yeah, is not ideal. I will not say no today because remain a lot.’
Djokovic’s addition to the line-up is already a coup for the event and the Serb insists he’s thoroughly looking forward to getting involved.

ND sounds so sincere......I just cannot see him on the same level in playing selflessly for this events....and not for the camaraderie, either.

Well, with Nadal most likely not playing, Team Europe needs another great player, so I'm glad Djoker is playing. At least I can cheer for him this time.

No one has heard about other players for Team Europe. Time is fleeting. I think its just Roger & Novak. Anyone have more news? Thank you.

Re: Laver Cup 2018, Chicago - Sep 21-23, 2018
Laver Cup doubles: I was reminded, after seeing the Roger/Nadal doubles play in Prague, of the doubles by Stan and Roger in the Davis Cup final won by Switzerland. It was a beautiful game, a great coordination and reaction and being-in-tune with each other. The way they moved together, I was really impressed. I remember that they managed to acquire an Australian doubles coach, a well-known one. That fine tuned things for sure. (It was a beautiful match, and Prague doubles couldnt match it.) Doubles is a different play, and has different requirements. Having watched that match in Prague made me truly appreciate doubles play and its potential. I cant envision Roger and ND playing together like that, but then you never know. Roger has the ability to raise the spirit of anything he is involved in. And, if ND were to play with him, he might feel spurred on to rise to the occasion. (It's not always the case that two of the best players together will make the best match.)
***I read a few things about Rod Laver's life, but couldn't get his book yet. He is a very impressive person, generous, loyal, giving of himself, as was his late wife. And he/she certainly more than answered the tough challenges of their life!
