Team Europe is looking beautiful if you take out that animal next to Roger, but they sure look mighty and intimidating.
The LC Launch is CLASS OVERLOAD. Roger and Geneva, beauty overload. This event is going to make Roger very happy and proud and just what the Doctor ordered as a remedy to his mental and physical anguish at this year's GS's. I can't wait to see Roger play, miss him so much.
Merci Beaucoup CROMAR and DINORA for the goodies.

The team, Europe, that is, does look very good! Don't forget federerworshipper that the one you dislike took part in this event before and it worked very well, not just because they won but also because he evidently likes the team play, the support for one another. So although he will never be my favorite--and in a way because I have a lower opinion of another top player--and also, since Roger said that he had a "heart of gold", so he does good works also, I would rate him higher than you. I undersand where it all comes from.
It will be interesting to see who will win the cup this time. Will there be any "give" for the "World" to maintain interest? I am serious. Last time, or rather first time, in Prague , I saw how totally crushed Patrick McEnroe looked.
It is serious, should be serious, but there has to be a sense of pride just for taking part, for what the Laver Cup represents. This is not the world championships, after all.
It is a marker of respect for those who in essence set up the foundation for the professional sports, and did it all for practically nothing--would today's players do it? Would we have so many flock to the tournaments? I bet not!
It is a very enjoyable format, and I like it every so much better than then the mixed format of the "team" tennis they tried out. More competitive, greater play all around, and there is a better cause to want to win it.

Question, for those who feel they want to say something about the fact that Nadal has a strongly stated goal of what clearly is overtaking Roger, and also, Djokovic, who probably wants to be like no player could ever be.
It is natural to strive, to want to achieve the best you can. Still, I do get a whiff of something a big unbecoming in this mighty dedication to overtaking Roger, and more. A personal enmity of a kind, in one instance, and the hard-head case of another who has seen a player beyond belief at times and has done everything he can to pass him. Just because of that initial shock of seeing him play so freely, almost playfully for years?
Each player should want or desire to be known about what is best about them, their game, how they were on the tourn, how they behaved with other players, what they did to the game, and how they elevated both the technical level of the game, and shown what is possible, and increased its popularity and draw worldwide.
In a way, a top athlete also challenges himself/herself with each match and tournament. It is not all about "putting the other player down" or "bageling them" or "leaving them in the dust".
Perhaps I am not acquainted with this issue enough since I am not a player, and can only go on my ideas, which may seem naive to some. In a way it reminds me of the Greek hero myths, of the great Greek men, be it Achilles, Ajax, or Perseus, etc. They had an aim, but I did not get the impression that they were in direct competition with each other. Of course, they emerg out of myth, whose time is like a mirage.
Rod Laver has, and always had, a wonderful attitude. Perhaps he should be asked to write about this idea, write an article that looks at motivating factors, and what is sportsmanship, and what is the greatness of the sport, beyond the greatness of any one individual.

Hello Marcia,
Thanks for the well wishes. That is so kind of you.
I will surely savour each moment during this special visit; btw, I got the idea from you going to Geneva from Paris.
It was a no-brainer, coz Paris is one of my favourite cities to visit.
Hope you are well and are enjoying your summer.
The King is in New York! Go Roger Go!
take care,
Felicity
Felicity, I hope you will have a wonderful time, in Paris and Geneva. Geneva is also a very beautiful town, the "old town" in Geneva is worthy to go visit, have lunch or diner in one of the restaurants there.
I am excited waiting for next Friday! Happy 3 days!

Marly, I like the look of Team Europe! And also it is better that a certain Spaniard is on the team rather than that ...other one. Nadal is and can be a team player, fully for the team. Not everyone is like that, and since this sport is mostly individual, it is important to have those who can share in the spirit for everyone.

Roger Federer hits the practice court
September 16, 2019Roger Federer was the first player to step on court at Palexpo on Monday as the countdown continued to the Laver Cup in Geneva.
Team Europe is looking to continue its unbeaten run and follow success in Prague and Chicago with a third victory in as many years.
Federer was put through his paces by Europe Vice Captain Thomas Enqvist on the familiar black court.
Team World followed soon after as Nick Kyrgios and Taylor Fritz took to the purpose-built practice court in the Fan Zone.

Just a note to let you know that I may not be as present as usual on the forum for the next few days, as I am leaving for Geneva tomorrow!
Yes, that's nirvana... A full three days of Roger!
Hope I'll be able to take a few pictures and find a good Wifi to connect and do some posting while in Geneva. Take good care of the Forum, guys (and girls!) and enjoy the fun. See you soon!
