Re: RF Schedule 2018
At the Laureus Sport Awards Rodg has said that playing at Roland Garros was a "dream", and that he will take a decision after Miami for RG 2018.

No word. I think right now, officially he's scheduled to come back in Halle as his contract with Stuttgart ended last year. But he could always add it last minute. I have no doubt the tournament would hold a WC for him.

Re: RF Schedule 2018
It would be nice if he did play Stuttgart as we will see him sooner!! Miss him already
I did ask in another thread but thought I'd try here. Are there any grass courts in Switzerland where Roger can practise when he is ready or does he have to go out of the country?

Re: RF Schedule 2018
No, they aren't really any grass courts in Switzerland. The first and only natural grass court was opened last year in Biel, but it's not Wimbledon quality yet!... and it's quite far from where Roger lives anyway. Last year, Roger practiced on hard court in Zurich before going to Stuttgart.

Re: RF Schedule 2018
^^
As much as I am informed there is not one official grass court in Switzerland. There must be one private court at the lac Léman somewhere, where Roger was invited to play, I don't know if he still plays there some times.
But Switzerland is a typical clay court country, Roger himself said he grew up on clay. I think I heard that Roger played with 17 years the first time on grass.
I don't know the reasons for it, maybe the maintaining is too expensive.
Edit:
cromar, thanks for the information about Biel, I did not know it.

Re: RF Schedule 2018
^^^ Roger is an excellent clay player. If it wasn't for a certain someone, Roger would have a Rome and MC title for sure, multiple RG titles, and probably at least one calendar slam.

Re: RF Schedule 2018
According to Basel's media release, Roger Federer will return on tour in June to play Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart.

Would be great to see Roger a week earlier! Surprised that Mercedes Cup wouldn't make the announcement themselves.
The Basel Swiss Indoors tournament issue a press release about it today!

Re: RF Schedule 2018
I'm not surprised that Roger would play Stuttgart. As Roger said before after being off the tour for a while: "enough practice already". By June, he's going to be itching to play a real match again, especially after how IW and Miami ended.

No, it's not a surprise that he would play Stuttgart, he did the same last year... Just let's hope that he has a better run this year.

Great news. I have tickets for Stuttgart this year. It will be great if Roger plays there and does well, so I can see him play live on grass.

Honestly I wouldn't read too much into that... The SI early press release isn't known for being especially accurate! They might have copied it from last year's press release for all we know lol And why would they know anything in the first place? It's not like Brennwald is on excellent terms with Roger either...
TBH my feeling is that Roger will wait till last minute - after his training block is over he might ask for a WC if he thinks he needs more match play to prepare for Wimby...
