Re: Davis Cup 2017
I sould guess that Goffin is French, as is Pouille. Any Flemish members?

Re: Davis Cup 2017
Hi all. I recorded the matches, I could not watch it live. Goffin was really very good. But still, I have France in my heart, and Noah, so...
It was heartbreaking to see Mahut crying at the Marseillaise. What a lost chance for him to play this DC. For him, because of injury. And Benneteau also, it was very moving to see him. Last appearance on courts, I presume.

Re: Davis Cup 2017
It seems that it was a strategic move to replace Mahut with Gasquet, maybe to have a 'safer value' as backup for Singles (should anything happen with their two main players), although it appears that Noah never provided a clear explanation for his last minute decision.
This was announced to the team on Wednesday night and, according to Pierre-Hugues Herbert, Mahut was very dignified in his reaction. But this was a big surprise to everyone... So Mahut may have had, indeed, reasons to cry during the opening ceremony (if he was indeed fit to play). Him and Benneteau were practicing together earlier in the week, most likely thinking they were going to play the doubles.
Hebert and Gasquet have never played together, but France could still decide to align Tsonga/Gasquet for the doubles tomorrow, and they have played together before. I hope that Noah won't have to regret his decision, as the doubles will obviously weigh very heavily in the outcome of this final....

My bad. I thought it was Mahut who had an injury at the WTF. Strange decision, this one. Mahut was really extremely sad, as well as Benneteau.

Re: Davis Cup 2017
France won the doubles and is now leading the Final 2-1. It will be tough for Belgium to recover from this deficit...
They will have to win both singles matches tomorrow. Although I can see Goffin winning his match against Tsonga, I am not so sure that Darcy will be able to work his Davis Cup magic like in the past?... He didn't impress that much in his opening match. France could align Gasquet, instead of Pouille, if it goes into a 5th rubber - Noah seemed to be impressed by his recent performance.

Goffin takes first set over JWT. Goffin's reaction shows how much this means to him.

I have different feelings here. I love Jo, and I love David. Jo had many opportunities in this first set, but in all of them he played very conservative. I will be sad and happy with any result here. And, I forgot, I love Noah.

I really am very fond of Goffin but I feel for France. So? David wins this match and France wins the final rubber? Who is playing for France in that?

Re: Davis Cup 2017
Goffin played another beautiful match. He's downright Nalbandianesque with his ability to redirect his BH at the drop of a dime. Stunning precision.
I think I just heard one sportscaster say that Darcis has won 5 out of 5 rubber matches.
GO BELGIUM! Would be happy for Belgium to win the Davis Cup like Suisse and Argentina and for Goffin to have a fairytale ending to the year.
A pity that avasbar swore us off (temporary, forever?). It would have been nice to share Goffin's accomplishments with her.

I'm delighted for Goffin because I love his game. Keep seeing Roger in him. Ok, Go Darcis. Sorry France

You heard right, wcr. Darcis is very good at the last match. I am still totally lost with this DC final. I love Noah, Jo, all the team. And I LOVE David.
